Materials Required For This craft
- Paper plates – You can either choose to color plain white plates or use colored ones. Coloring the plates is a good idea as it helps to keep the kids busy for some time.
- Craft paint – Non-toxic washable colors for kids to avoid mess.
- Googly eyes – Optional, but, we totally recommend Googly eyes for the extra cuteness.
- Scissors – Kid-friendly scissors to cut and shape the plates.
- Glue – Simple craft glue stick is more than enough for this papercraft.
Instructions To Make The Paper Plate Duck
Paint the paper plate with a mix of yellow and orange, brown and green, or whichever color your kid wants the duck to be. For smaller kids, you can use the smush painting technique. Skip this step, if you are using a colored plate.
Once the paint dries, outline the shape of the duck using a pencil and carefully, cut it out. From the remaining portion, you can cut a small triangle shape for the beak, and paint it. Again, wait for the paint to dry and carefully stick it to the duck’s head.
Lastly, fix the eyes. We found these really cute googly eyes with lashes. You can use regular ones too. Meanwhile, if none of them are available, cut out a small white circle and draw the eyeballs on it. Then, stick it on the paper plate using a glue stick. You can even draw in the lashes using a marker or black pen. Easy peasy! Our adorable paper plate duck is ready.
